California Lighthouse Temporarily Closed for Major Maintenance
ORANJESTAD - The California Lighthouse in Hudishibana will be closed to the public from Monday, October 13, until the end of 2025 due to scheduled major maintenance work.
The Stichting Monumentenfonds Aruba (SMFA), which owns and manages the lighthouse, follows a structured maintenance plan under which various monuments under its care receive regular restoration and upkeep.Following the recent completion of maintenance work on the Yellow House in Weststraat, attention will now turn to the California Lighthouse. Given its location and daily exposure to natural elements, the lighthouse is one of the monuments that requires frequent and extensive maintenance.
GPS Construction will carry out the restoration work, expected to last approximately two and a half months. Planned activities include repairs to the upper section and walls, as well as a complete interior and exterior repainting.
The SMFA extends its appreciation to Experitours and to the general public for their understanding and cooperation during the period that the lighthouse remains closed.
