Cabinet Wever-Croes II resigns.
ORANJESTAD — On Monday, September 9, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes handed over the resignation of Cabinet Wever-Croes II.
Aruba will now have a demissionary government, which will only be able to handle current affairs until a new government is formed.
The prime minister indicates that this decision was taken based on the fact that the coalition partner sought an alliance with the opposition and thus broke the agreement between MEP and RAIZ, and without an agreement, there could be no government. Political stability is essential for Aruba and cannot be determined by the personal opinion of a single person. The governance agreement is fundamental, and here we are talking about a "political breach of confidence."
On this basis, the Council of Ministers authorized the Prime Minister to hand over the resignation of Cabinet Wever-Croes II and the decision to dissolve Parliament to the Governor of Aruba, S.E. Alfonso Boekhoudt.
The elections will be on December 6, 2024, and submission of the candidates lists will be on October 18.
