Cabinet of Aruba provides Handbook for Aruban students in the Netherlands to all students who have just arrived in the Netherlands.
ORANJESTAD - At the beginning of the year, the Government of Aruba surveyed all Aruban students in the Netherlands.
From the survey, it became clear that our students lacked information before they came to Holland, but also on how to study, live, and work in Holland. They indicated a lack of information about insurance, DUO loans, OV-kaart, study loans, registration in the municipality, tips on how to spend less in the Netherlands, tips on how to get help from their school and their deans, how to find a house, etc. In addition, they wanted to know about Aruba's relationship with the Kingdom and the Statute of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in case other students asked them. Another question is what the Cabinet and the mentors do and how they can contact the student.
Based on the survey results and the information the students indicated they needed, the Cabinet compiled a handbook with all relevant information for all students who come or want to study in the Netherlands. The handbook drafting took four months thanks to the collaboration between Gilner Dirksen of the Bureau of Minister of Education and Sports and Indhira Burke of the Cabinet of Aruba. The handbook consists of 5 chapters. The first explains the Cabinet, relations in the Kingdom, and the Statute of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the second elaborates on living, studying, and working in Aruba and the third chapter includes living, learning, and working in the Netherlands, insurance in the Netherlands and a Q&A section.
On August 5 and 6, the Cabinet distributed this handbook via a QR code to all students who arrived in the Netherlands. Director of the Cabinet of Aruba Joselin Croes LL.M invites all parents, all deans, students, or all persons who guide students to take note of the contents of this handbook to be aware of all the changes the Netherlands introduced for students.
