ORANJESTAD - The Department of Policy & Supervision of the Public Works Department (DOW) wishes to inform the Aruban community about the number of building permits applied for and granted in 2025.

Below is an overview of the building permit applications received by the department between January 6, 2025, and December 28, 2025:

  • Building permits applied for: 1,043
  • Building permits granted: 945
  • Building permits rejected: 268
  • Building permits pending: 906

To apply for a building permit, you must submit the following documents to the DOW. 

For residential construction:

  • Construction drawing of the house (specification drawing), 2 copies
  • Site plan (situation plan), 2 copies
  • Construction drawings and calculations, 2 copies
  • Notarial deed or Ministerial Decree, 1 copy
  • Identity card, 1 copy
  • Completed DOW form
  • Payment of AFL 200

For a commercial building:

  • Construction drawing of the commercial building (specification drawing), 4 copies
  • Site plan (situation plan), 4 copies
  • Construction drawings and calculations, 2 copies
  • Notarial deed or Ministerial Decree, 1 copy
  • Identity card, 1 copy
  • Completed DOW form
  • Completed DTI form
  • Payment of AFL 200
