Boekstart project for babies three months to two years old
ORANJESTAD - The National Library offers Boekstart and advises parents to stimulate their children to read books early on.
BoekStart is a project to introduce you and your baby or toddler to books early. This initiative aims to help parents and young children enjoy books. Reading aloud encourages language development and strengthens the bond and connection between mother/father and baby or toddler.
It is advisable to start developing a reading culture from an early age.
Parents of babies from three months to two years can register their children at the library (Playa or San Nicolas) and receive a case with two books. Inside is the first soft feel book for babies to play with. This case is a gift along with the membership. Membership is free for children.
The library has a sizeable picture book collection for babies and toddlers and will give the Boekstart case while supplies last.
