Aruba’s Cultural Diplomat Visits DutchCulture
ORANJESTAD – Michael Lampe, Cultural Diplomat of Aruba and Special Representative for Cultural Diplomacy, paid an official visit to DutchCulture, the Netherlands’ organization for international cultural relations, in Amsterdam.
He met with Director drs. Kirsten van den Hul to discuss strengthening ties in the field of cultural diplomacy.
The meeting marked an important step toward deepening collaboration between Aruba and the Netherlands. Discussions centered on diaspora, cultural exchange, and international cooperation as key pillars of Aruba’s cultural diplomacy strategy. Opportunities to support the creative industries and to enhance international visibility for the cultural voices of Aruba and the wider Caribbean were also explored.
Mr. Lampe highlighted the vital role of cultural diplomacy in building bridges between islands, diasporic communities, and international partners:
“I can proudly say that our culture has immense value. By strengthening partnerships with key organizations such as DutchCulture, we demonstrate that Aruba—though a small island—can contribute to innovation, resilience, and identity formation in the cultural sphere on a global stage,” Lampe stated.
