Aruba will participate with a trade delegation of 30 traders at Agroalimentaria 2025 in the Dominican Republic.

ORANJESTAD—Geoffrey Wever, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, will attend Agroalimentaria 2025, one of the Caribbean's most significant agricultural shows, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from May 28 to 31, 2025.

Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Industry (DEZHI) will lead Aruba's official participation in close collaboration with the consul and vice-consul of the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Aruba. A total of 30 Aruban traders will participate in Agroalimentaria 2025, representing a variety of sectors that are especially interested in agricultural products and beverages.

Why is Agrofood 2025 important for Aruba?

The global economic situation is constantly changing, with increased import tariffs from the United States and other strategic countries. For this reason, Aruba must continue to seek sustainable alternatives to strengthen its economy, diversify its trade relations, and explore new sources of imports and investment.

Agrofood 2025 is a strategic platform where Aruban entrepreneurs can

  • Make connections directly with Dominican businesses;
  • Expand their network of regional contacts;
  • Explore new collaborations in the agricultural sector.

Benefits for Aruban traders

During the fair, traders can participate in business rounds, direct meetings with Dominican exporters, and attend conferences and presentations related to the current and future development of the agricultural sector. It allows them to examine Dominican products personally, evaluate their quality, and explore possible imports to Aruba.

Since 2018, DEZHI has taken an active role in coordinating trade missions in close collaboration with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Aruba, and that will continue in the same way in this year's edition. In addition, thanks to the support of the Dominican government, a new maritime route has been established between the Dominican Republic and Aruba via Don Andres,  facilitating consolidated cargo transportation. It eliminates one of the biggest logistical obstacles d in the past and will make participation in Agroalimentaria 2025 even more attractive for our traders and importers.

"With this trade mission, we are actively looking for new markets, and thus trying to lower food prices, mitigate the negative impact that the trade war can have, and create new opportunities for our traders," said Minister Geoffrey Wever.
