Aruba Tourism Authority and Aruba Ports Authority N.V. Organize Another Successful Buki di Pret Activity
ORANJESTAD – On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, another special edition of Buki di Pret took place aboard the Carnival Horizon of Carnival Cruise Line, bringing together more than 60 children between the ages of 8 and 14 for a day filled with education, inspiration, and fun in the fascinating world of tourism and cruising.
The activity was organized by the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) in collaboration with Aruba Ports Authority N.V. (APA).
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for the children to meet with Marie McKenzie, Senior Vice President, Government & Destination Affairs for Carnival Corporation, Sarah Beth Reno, Chief Operating Officer of Carnival Cruise Line, and Captain Rocco Lubrano of Carnival Horizon, who warmly welcomed the group on board.
The delegation also met with the official representatives of Aruba, including Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor Wendrick Cicilia and his Chief of Staff, Phillipe La Reine, as well as Ronella Croes, CEO of Aruba Tourism Authority, and Marc Figaroa, CEO of Aruba Ports Authority N.V., along with other representatives of A.T.A. and APA.
The meeting highlighted the value of the ongoing alliance between Aruba and Carnival Cruise Line and the shared commitment to continue creating opportunities for tourism, development, and meaningful experiences for Aruba's youth.
During the official visit on board, Aruba Tourism Authority also presented a commemorative plaque to Aruba Ports Authority N.V. in celebration of its 45th anniversary. APA marked 45 years of operation in 2026 and officially celebrated this special milestone on August 18.
The recognition highlighted APA N.V.'s valuable contribution to the development of Aruba as a leading cruise destination, as well as the strong collaboration between A.T.A. and APA in strengthening the tourism industry of our island.
Throughout the day, the children had the opportunity to learn more about how the cruise industry operates and to gain a better understanding of the important role tourism plays in Aruba's economic development. They participated in a tour of the ship and enjoyed a variety of recreational and educational activities.
The enthusiasm and excitement of the children once again demonstrated the success and value of the Buki di Pret program.
A.T.A. and APA N.V. are proud to continue supporting initiatives that educate and inspire Aruba's future generation.
A special word of gratitude goes to the Buki di Pret Foundation for its continued dedication to the welfare and development of Aruba's children. Through its efforts, children are given the opportunity to learn, discover new experiences, and create unforgettable memories while enjoying their holiday.
A big thank you also goes to Carnival Cruise Line for opening its doors once again to Buki di Pret and providing the children with this unique opportunity to experience the world of cruising firsthand.
A.T.A. and APA N.V. also extend their appreciation to Pelican Adventures for providing transportation for the children, as well as to all other partners who contributed to the success of this special activity.
