Aruba hosts SITA Borders User Forum
ORANJESTAD - For two days, Aruba is a meeting point for representatives of various governments and the global tourism sector during the SITA Borders User Forum, an international event organized by SITA at the Embassy Suites Aruba.
Experts from Caribbean and Central American countries gathered at the forum to receive valuable insights into modern technology within the travel sector. SITA is a world-leading organization specializing in information and communication technology for the aviation industry. Airlines, airports, and governments worldwide rely on SITA's technological solutions for passenger processing, digital identity and biometrics, information exchange, airport operations, and border control.
Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers opened the international forum. In his address, Minister Dowers emphasized the importance of modern technology in strengthening border security, while noting that technology alone is insufficient.
The forum centers on technological developments transforming aviation and border management, including the digitalization of travel processes, digital identity, biometrics, passenger processing, information exchange, and solutions for more efficient and secure operations.
For Aruba—an island with an international airport where connectivity is essential to the economy—modern and effective border control is vital. Technological advancements create opportunities to modernize processes while requiring trained personnel, inter-agency cooperation, and effective information exchange.
Minister Dowers thanked SITA for selecting Aruba as the host, noting that the conference provides an opportunity to bring together international experts and partners to share knowledge and experience shaping the future of travel and border security.
