Aruba Government Prepares Assistance Efforts Following Earthquake in Colombia
ORANJESTAD — The Government of Aruba is closely monitoring the situation following a major earthquake that struck several regions in Colombia this morning.
Circulating imagery reveals the significant impact of the natural disaster, which has naturally raised concern among Aruban families with loved ones in Colombia.
During a press conference, the government confirmed that the Crisis Management Office (CMO), together with relevant authorities, is working to compile a comprehensive list of Aruban citizens currently in Colombia. Preliminary information indicates that several citizens are in the country for various reasons, including medical treatment, education, family visits, and vacation.
The government is urging all citizens holding Dutch nationality currently in Colombia to stay in touch with consular authorities so they can request assistance and register their presence through the consulate. This will enable a prompt response if aid is required.
