Aruba Airport Showcases Gateway 2030 Progress to Aviation Authorities
ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) welcomed a delegation from the Department of Civil Aviation Aruba (DCA Aruba) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Netherlands (CAA NL) for an official site visit to Queen Beatrix International Airport.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase Aruba Airport’s ongoing infrastructure investments, operational enhancements, and future development plans under the Gateway 2030 expansion program.
The delegation included representatives from the Department of Civil Aviation Aruba and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Netherlands.
During the visit, the delegation toured the airport’s new U.S. Check-In Hall, which opened in April 2025 as part of Phase 1A of the Gateway 2030 program. The facility significantly enhances the passenger experience through improved check-in capacity, modernized processing areas, and greater operational efficiency.
The delegation also visited Aruba Airport’s new state-of-the-art baggage handling system (BHS), which is designed to process up to 2,000 bags per hour and incorporates advanced screening technology to improve baggage processing, security, and overall operational performance.
As part of the visit, AAA provided the delegation with an update on Gateway 2030 Phase 1B, followed by a guided tour of the active construction site. The delegation had the opportunity to view firsthand the progress being made on the expansion project, which will introduce three new passenger boarding bridge gates, three new bus gates, expanded hold room capacity, and additional commercial and food & beverage offerings designed to enhance the passenger experience and support Aruba Airport’s future growth.
The program concluded with an airside tour, offering the delegation an overview of airport operations, airfield infrastructure, and the ongoing developments that support Aruba Airport’s long-term vision of providing a safe, efficient, and world-class travel experience.
“We were pleased to welcome representatives from the DCA Aruba and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Netherlands to Aruba Airport,” said Jonny Andersen, CEO of Aruba Airport Authority N.V. “Visits such as these provide an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and showcase the significant investments we are making to prepare Aruba Airport for the future. Through our Gateway 2030 program, we are developing modern infrastructure and enhancing the passenger experience to support the continued growth of our airport and Aruba’s connectivity to the world. As one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean, we remain committed to building an airport that reflects the ambitions of our island and serves our community, visitors, and airline partners for years to come.”
The visit highlighted the strong collaboration between aviation authorities in Aruba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as the shared commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, operational excellence, and passenger service throughout the aviation sector.
