Aruba Airport hosted ACI-LAC 2025 meetings

ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) proudly hosted this year’s Airports Council International (ACI) Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) annual Environment & Sustainability and Security Committee meetings from September 1–3, 2025.

The ACI-LAC Environment & Sustainability Committee develops collective airport positions on environmental management and sustainability in the aviation sector, while promoting best practices in environmental stewardship. The ACI-LAC Facilitation, Security & IT Committee encourages airports to implement innovative technologies and practices that enhance operational processes, passenger flows, accessibility, and security measures tailored to current risk contexts.

Over 50 committee members from Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Bogota, Argentina, Brazil, Curacao, Holland, Belgium, Greece, and Aruba were warmly welcomed on September 1 with a “Taste of Aruba” event, featuring local cuisine, beverages, music, and handcrafted products.

This year’s Environment & Sustainability Committee meeting focused on advancing circularity, biodiversity, climate change adaptation, international waste management, and workshops on Airport Carbon Accreditation and airport resilience. The Facilitation, Security & IT Committee discussed security equipment testing, mixed terminal concepts, digital transformation in AVSEC security management, and the latest technological developments across airports.

“We are extremely honored to host this year’s Environment & Sustainability Committee meeting, which provides a valuable platform to discuss regional, national, and international environmental developments and opportunities,” said Ms. Christine Kaarsbaan-Leo, Sustainability & Health Manager at AAA and ACI-LAC Vice Chair.

Angeline Flemming, Director of Health and Sustainability at AAA and ACI-LAC Board Director, added, “ACI-LAC provides member airports with a vital platform to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and foster collaboration.”
