Aruba Airport Authority N.V. Successfully Concludes Safety Week

ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) concluded its annual Safety Week, held from June 23 to June 27, 2025, with a strong focus on promoting safety awareness and best practices across the airport’s airside operations.

Safety Week is a key initiative for AAA, underscoring the critical importance of maintaining the highest safety standards in environments where aircraft operations take place. Working near aircraft requires constant attention to safety. This dedicated week was a powerful reminder that keeping our airport safe is a shared responsibility—one that includes everyone from airline staff and fueling crews to baggage handlers, air traffic controllers, emergency responders, maintenance teams, and many others who work behind the scenes every day.

Throughout the week, AAA organized a series of engaging presentations and interactive sessions, inviting the entire airport community to participate.

Key partners and stakeholders provided valuable insights into the diverse aspects of airside safety:

  • FMSA (Fuels Marketing & Supply Aruba N.V.) – Provided insights into the aircraft fueling process and associated hazards.
  • Aruba Fire Department Rescue & Firefighting Services (BWA)—Highlighted their vital role in emergency response and collaboration with AAA.
  • Gen Air—Explained the procedures and risks involved in ground handling services.
  • AAA Safety Office – Shared emergency protocols specific to Aruba Airport.
  • AAA Development & Technology Unit – Discussed how safety is integrated into every infrastructure and development project.
  • ANSA Air Traffic Control—Demonstrated how safety is maintained in aircraft traffic movement and coordination in the air.
  • American Airlines—Offered a perspective on safety procedures from an airline operations standpoint.

The week concluded with AAA’s Quarter 2 Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk—a critical safety inspection involving approximately 90 participants from various parts of the airport community. Together, they joined forces to identify and remove debris that could pose a hazard to aircraft operations. This quarterly initiative is a proactive measure to help maintain a safe operating environment for both aircraft and airport personnel.

AAA extends its gratitude to all participants and partners who contributed to the success of Safety Week 2025. It reaffirms the dedication to preserving a secure and safe airport environment for everybody.
