Aruba Airport Authority and Utilities Aruba Sign MOU for Sustainability
ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA), operator of Queen Beatrix International Airport, and Utilities Aruba N.V. have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU is the beginning of a collaborative effort to explore innovative and sustainable solutions that support Aruba’s long-term environmental and infrastructure goals.
The MOU reflects the shared commitment of both organizations, together with Elmar NV, WEB Aruba NV, and Aruba Waste Water Sustainable Solutions (AWWS), to work together in identifying opportunities that address the airport’s increasing energy demand while contributing to Aruba’s broader sustainability ambitions.
As part of the agreement, Utilities Aruba has expressed its willingness to cooperate with AAA in exploring sustainable solutions for future energy capacity expansion and energy management at the airport. This initiative is particularly relevant in light of the airport’s continued growth and future development plans, including the Gateway 2030 Program.
In turn, Utilities Aruba has requested the cooperation of AAA to explore sustainable water and wastewater management, and other solutions that could contribute to greater efficiency and environmental performance. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to assess opportunities that support responsible resource management and sustainable operations.
The MOU establishes a framework for an exploratory phase during which both parties will conduct studies, share expertise, and evaluate the feasibility of potential initiatives. Areas of focus include solar energy expansion, energy management strategies, wastewater treatment alternatives, and other sustainability-related opportunities that may benefit both organizations and the wider community.
Beyond the initial areas of focus, the parties will also explore opportunities for knowledge sharing, future sustainability initiatives, feasibility studies, pilot projects, and potential funding opportunities that support sustainable development.
The signing of this MOU underscores the commitment of both Aruba Airport Authority and Utilities Aruba to foster strategic partnerships that contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready Aruba.
