Anne Frank’s bravery was commemorated and honored on her birthday.

ORANJESTAD - On Thursday afternoon, the 96th birthday of Anne Frank was commemorated in Wilhelmina Park. Minister of Public Health drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras reflected with the Jewish community on the life and legacy of Anne Frank, a girl whose diary became an eternal voice against hatred and a powerful symbol of resistance and hope.

The statue of Anne Frank, unveiled in 2011, is an important part of the cultural vision of the Government of Aruba that transcends our borders and unites Aruba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands with the international community. The March 18 Monument, the statue of Queen Wilhelmina, and the statue of Anne Frank together form a symbolic triangle that reflects our national identity, historical ties, and shared values; a triangle of unity and moral responsibility.

During the ceremony, it was recalled that Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929 in Germany, a Jewish girl whose courage and wisdom, captured in her diary, continue to inspire generations around the world. Anne Frank died in February 1945, aged 15, but her diary survived and became a symbol of courage and hope.
