ORANJESTAD - On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the National Library of Aruba organized the Sustainable Education Symposium with the theme "Go Plant!" to promote a more self-sufficient Aruba.

During the event, various speakers addressed the audience, including Mrs. Astrid Britten, director of the National Library; Mr. Rendell de Kort from Cornerstone Economics; Mrs. Roselinde Barros from Living Soil Agro Consultancy; and Mr. Gregory Fung-A-Fat from United Farmers. Each focused on different aspects of planting, including community sustainability, local food as part of our culture, environmental impact, and more. Alongside Santa Rosa, the library organized several lectures from the Sustainable Education Symposium throughout the week to educate students about the primary sector in Aruba.

Aruba relies on imports, making our island vulnerable to economic fluctuations worldwide. The theme Go Plant represents a broader commitment to increasing resilience and food security against climate change and economic uncertainty.

Every planted tree is a step toward our future, and it is essential to combine ancient wisdom with modern technology to pave a sustainable path for Aruba.

The Ministry of Nature congratulates the team of the National Library, Santa Rosa, and all participants of the symposium for their contribution to promoting a culture of sustainable agriculture.
