Last session of the CBS "Income and Expenditures 2023-2024" Survey
ORANJESTAD - The final session of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Income & Expenditure Survey will begin on October 16, 2024, to wrap up the one-year cycle of study on household income and expenditure.
The CBS started in October 2023 with this survey.
The survey is conducted according to international recommendations and aims to visit 1,500 to 2,000 households. As of period 11, 1764 households spread across Aruba participated in it. It gives a representative view of all household types residing in all areas of Aruba.
This survey is essential since the information collected will be used to, among other things, determine the basket of basic products on which CBS monitors prices in Aruba to determine inflation. The weight of each good or service purchased is also determined based on the spending of every home polled. CBS will also be able to give an overview of how the consumption patterns of our population have changed over the past eight years since the last Income and Expenditure Survey in 2016.
Last period
The last period of the survey begins October 16, 2024. As usual, they will assign addresses in a determined area to each surveyor(s) to visit. Households that agree to participate will be visited over two weeks to assist the household in filling out the daily expense book. A surveyor works during the week and on weekends between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., depending on the day and time that a household is available and, on the appointment, made with the surveyor.
As with all CBS surveys, CBS would like to stress that the information gathered during the survey is processed anonymously. CBS surveyors have a badge and a uniform to identify themselves. If a surveyor is not wearing a uniform, they can always identify themselves with a badge.
We thank all households that have already cooperated with the Income and Expenditure Survey and continue to ask for the sound cooperation of all households for the remaining period. The success of the 2023-2024 Income and Expenditure Survey depends on everyone's cooperation.
