Celebration of the 75th anniversary of the National Library

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the National Library was held.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes gave a speech expressing the importance of this institute. "This building is not only one of books but also of capable, dedicated, and experienced people who have made the 75 years of the library a success," she said.

The president also expressed that many people have visited the National Library since childhood to help them with reading or to find books needed to complete their homework. This institute is a place where students of all ages can sit and study in a calm and undisturbed environment and find books to read, thus helping to enhance their knowledge on various topics.

The Prime Minister explained that given how fast the world of digitalization is growing, in the future, we will focus on making the National Library the center where everyone goes to seek assistance and help regarding digital services. As is known, the government is digitizing its processes, and it is crucial not to leave anyone behind. So people who do not have a computer or lack computer skills can visit the library to receive the necessary help.

"I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to be present at this celebration, so I can thank every employee who has been working, is working, and will work at the library, because they are the success of this institute. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and everything you do to help every client who visits the institute. Congratulations, and may the library celebrate many more years serving the community of Aruba," the Prime Minister expressed.
